Power Plant Construction Specialist

Role summary / purpose The Construction Specialist provides contractor oversight for field activities. This includes adherence to drawings and specifications, coordination of activities with existing facility, and oversight of safety, environmental, and QA/QC compliance. The role supports the Site Construction Manager in contractor management and serves as the interface for Discipline Engineers on construction issues. Key responsibilities • Monitor performance by the contractor and their subcontractors regarding earthwork, mechanical systems and piping, electrical and instrumentation systems • Ensure compliance with safe work practices and environmental work practices • Monitor performance against the schedule • Validate milestones and/or quantities submitted by the contractor for payment • Assist in resolution of field problems as appropriate • Identify and provide field observations of key work activities • Ensure the quality of construction through continuous monitoring of the construction and installation QC process • Support the Site Construction Manager in contractor management • Support a diverse Construction and Maintenance team to achieve company objectives • Execute construction, maintenance and restoration activities • Support management of customer commitment dates and requests to increase customer satisfaction Requirements – education & experience • 10+ years of experience in construction • Experience with gas construction sites Required skills • Leadership skills to support construction, maintenance and restoration activities • Knowledge of safe work practices, standards, work methods and procedures Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Strong electrical experience in power plant construction Employment details – type, location, hours Per diem eligible 7 days a week
