About this role

Role summary / purpose The Work Management Specialist I supports end to end execution of operational and maintenance work by assisting with planning, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of activities across assigned facilities or service areas. This role focuses on applying established work management processes to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Specialist I works under general guidance and collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to support barrier free work execution. Key responsibilities • Develop and maintain work plans and schedules aligned with priorities, skills, materials, and equipment. • Create and support barrier free job plans by verifying availability of labor, materials, tools, permits, and documentation. • Coordinate daily and weekly work schedules and support adjustments for emergent or changing priorities. • Track work order progress, identify execution barriers, and escalate issues as needed. • Serve as a point of coordination between field resources, supervisors, contractors, and support teams. • Utilize work management systems to distribute work, schedule resources, and track execution. • Support materials, inventory, and equipment readiness activities. • Ensure work is planned and executed in accordance with EHS standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. • Participate in performance reporting and continuous improvement efforts. • Prepare for and provide emergency restoration support dispatching, updating, completing, calling emergency locates, reporting oil spills, pinging meters, and updating ETORs as needed. • Support Distribution, Customer Experience & Services reliability programs or processes using appropriate work management applications. • Achieve acceptable level of availability during normal work schedule and emergency storm restoration after hours and weekends. Requirements – education & experience • 1–2 years of experience in work management, planning, scheduling, operations, maintenance, or a related field. • High School Diploma / GED • Working knowledge of work management principles and systems. • Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills. Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Excellent customer skills • Flexibility and dependability during normal work schedule and emergency storm restoration • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills • One to three years of providing customer service support • Ability to effectively manage stressful situations Employment details – type, location, hours Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM Hybrid schedule after 90 days: In office Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; Remote Tuesday and Friday Southern Pines Operations Center Selected candidate must live within 30 miles of working location.
