About this role

Role summary / purpose We are building a team of engineers specializing in AI-powered software development and agentic systems. This is a hands-on engineering role: you will design, build, and ship AI-enabled applications and services, using AI coding agents and spec-driven development to deliver at speed without compromising quality. You will work closely with product owners and business stakeholders to understand what needs to be built, but your primary focus is on technical design, implementation, and delivery. Key responsibilities Engineering & Delivery • Design, build, test, and deploy AI-enabled applications and services using modern development tools and platforms • Build and integrate AI components such as LLM-powered features, agent workflows, and retrieval-based solutions, including evaluation, guardrails, and monitoring • Lead spec-driven development workflows, writing clear technical specs that guide both humans and AI coding agents • Use AI coding agents (e.g., GitHub Copilot, agent workflows) to accelerate development, and help set best practices for the team • Own the full development lifecycle: • Technical specification and architecture • Implementation (AI-assisted) • Testing and validation • Deployment, observability, and iteration • Uphold engineering quality through code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and sound technical design • Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain production systems for performance, reliability, and security Collaboration • Work closely with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into technical solutions • Validate solutions with end users and iterate quickly • Provide informal mentorship and technical guidance to more junior engineers • Communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly to non-technical audiences Requirements – education & experience Experience • Approximately 5 years of professional experience in software engineering • At least some hands-on experience in AI engineering, such as building LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or ML-enabled features, whether in production or on substantive projects • A track record of delivering software from design through production Education • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience Required skills • Proficiency in one or more modern languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar) • Experience building and deploying production applications or services (APIs, cloud platforms, databases) • Experience with Git/GitHub and modern development workflows (CI/CD, code review, testing) • Solid understanding of software design principles, system architecture, and debugging • Strong attention to detail and structured thinking • Analytical mindset with comfort working through ambiguous technical problems • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and ways of working • Strong communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences • Ownership of outcomes, not just tasks Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Experience with AI/ML tooling and frameworks (e.g., LLM APIs, agent frameworks, vector databases, prompt and evaluation tooling) • Experience using AI coding agents as part of a daily development workflow • Experience with data analysis or working with datasets •…
