About this role

Role summary / purpose This role is for a Controls Engineer supporting the development and build of a final assembly cell. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role — the ideal candidate is self-sufficient navigating Siemens PLCs, comfortable taking direction from a project lead, and able to pick up tasks and run with them independently while working alongside a team of engineers. Machine/System Scope • Siemens PLC and servos • Ignition HMI • Pneumatic motions • Bosch pallet conveyor • Estic torque drivers • Customer MES transactions Key responsibilities • Program and debug the assembly cell at a facility in Holland, MI • Support installation and commissioning at the customer facility in Tallahassee, FL • Work hands-on with Siemens PLCs, servos, and pneumatics to troubleshoot and debug equipment during build • Take direction from the project lead while managing assigned tasks independently • Collaborate closely with a team of other engineers through the build and debug phases • Support install and startup activities onsite in Florida Requirements – education & experience • Bachelor's degree preferred • 5–7 years of controls engineering experience • 3+ years hands-on Siemens PLC experience (required) Required skills • Siemens PLC programming and troubleshooting • Comfortable working independently while taking direction from a lead • Strong team collaboration skills — this role works closely with a group of engineers, not solo Employment details – type, location, hours • 100% onsite in Holland, MI during programming/debug phase • Standard hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM • 45–50 hrs/week to start, ramping to ~60 hrs/week during install • Florida install tentatively mid-January – end of February, on a 2 weeks on / 1 week home rotation • Initial contract through the end of February 2027, pending extension for second project Growth & development opportunities • Potential for extension: a second, identical machine is planned after the first, contingent on this build's progress
