Field Database Administrator

Role summary / purpose Field-based position serving as an onsite/field liaison with 75-90% travel associated with the role. PPE will be required, with lots of walking involved. The successful candidate should have a technical background and may have prior experience with light project management. Intergrader/installer experience is highly valued; candidates should be comfortable being on the road and familiar with jobsite safety standards. Key responsibilities • Installation and support of database management systems • Adhere to best practices within the department while delivering high-level customer service • Support production, staging, and/or quality assurance databases • Manage availability, access, and security of associated data assets • Consult with IT management and clients to identify and recommend opportunities for better utilization of technologies • Improve business application systems, business area operations, or infrastructure operations through enhanced database maintenance, monitoring, security, backup, recovery, performance, and integrity techniques • Provide technical database expertise and leadership to the development team Requirements – education & experience • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, OR 6 years of related business experience • 1-3 years of work experience in addition to degree Required skills • Experience with sequential query language or equivalent in one or more database platforms' native programming languages (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL, Access SQL, Python) • Experience in file structures, design, retrieval, and access methods • Self-motivated with ability to work well in a collaborative environment Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills • Strong organizational skills • Ability to analyze business problems and opportunities • Intergrader/installer experience • Light project management experience Employment details – type, location, hours Field-based role with 75-90% travel.
