Group Leader – Production, Quality, or Global Supply Chain (GSC) Location: Lockport, NY (Onsite, Full-Time) Duration: Long-term contract Pay Rate: $45/hr Work Schedule: • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM • 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM • Monday–Friday, plus most Saturdays/Sundays as required (up to 7 days/week) Position Description: General Motors Manufacturing Group is seeking highly motivated, qualified individuals for current and future Group Leader opportunities. As a Group Leader in Production, Quality, or Global Supply Chain, you will lead teams of employees and technical personnel to drive operational excellence across manufacturing processes. This includes managing daily operations, improving business processes, and fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration. You may oversee production activities, quality assurance, inspection, problem-solving, and GM's Built-in-Quality initiatives — applying independent judgment within the Global Manufacturing System framework, with a strong focus on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). This role offers the opportunity to develop new skills while contributing to the advancement of manufacturing processes supporting GM's shift toward electric and autonomous vehicles. Key Responsibilities: • Analyze and respond promptly to the daily manufacturing plan, adjusting operations as needed • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities • Manage change and navigate ambiguity • Drive accountability through people and processes, including difficult conversations when needed Physical Requirements: • Work in a loud manufacturing environment that may not be climate-controlled (hot or cold conditions) • Frequently and repetitively bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach • Lift/carry materials up to 15 lbs. regularly, and up to 40 lbs. periodically • Walk and stand for prolonged periods • Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders/lifts), and operate vehicles/equipment • Read standardized work instructions, operate machines/tools, and perform quality inspections • Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals • Wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hats, earplugs, safety shoes) Required Qualifications: • Experience managing and leading people, including addressing performance concerns • Experience solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment • Strong interpersonal skills, conflict management, and decision-making ability • High analytical ability to solve complex problems • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, typing, email, etc.) • Willingness to work rotating shifts • Availability to regularly work weekends (approx. 2 weekends/month) to meet business demands • High School Diploma or equivalent • Minimum 2 years of managerial experience • Military background a plus Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP) • Proficiency in Throughput Improvement Process (TIP) • Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes • Experience supervising employees in a union environment • Supply Chain or Quality experience • Experience implementing Built-in-Quality initiatives • Red X & DFSS Certification • Lean Manufacturing experience • Knowledge of timekeeping systems •…
