Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Role summary / purpose This team is responsible for all on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure including backup, storage, patching, upgrades, migrations, etc. This individual will develop automations specific to this work. Key responsibilities • Design and implement infrastructure automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, Terraform, and Linux-based technologies • Develop code for enterprise infrastructure platforms and API-based integrations • Automate system provisioning and configuration to support scalable, resilient, and secure IT operations • Provide enterprise level support of infrastructure and business application technologies including servers, storage, and infrastructure-related software • Integrate software to enable usage, support, and monitoring of various hardware technologies • Develop and maintain routine work procedures and define standard installation and upgrade methodologies • Evaluate, acquire, install, and integrate components with performance monitoring • Plan, design, install and support computer systems • Facilitate technical and business planning for upgrades • Provide technical guidance to IT staff members • Develop standards for IT software and hardware • Integrate software and hardware configurations to maximize performance • Coordinate hardware and software upgrades across IT and business units • Prepare activity and progress reports • Stay current with new hardware and software developments and recommend enhancements Requirements – education & experience • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent direct work-related experience • In lieu of a degree: 8 years related business experience • With a degree: 3-4 years work experience Required skills • Advanced experience with infrastructure automation solutions • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, Terraform, and Linux-based technologies • Strong background in coding for enterprise infrastructure platforms • Experience developing API-based integrations • Experience automating system provisioning and configuration Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Ability to thoroughly document work processes and communicate effectively • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills including listening, conflict management, approachability, and negotiations • Ability to effectively prioritize activities and focus team efforts • Ability to research independently, multi-task, and meet deadlines under tight timeframes • Ability to build working relationships across organizational levels • Ability to work effectively in team-driven environments • Ability to resolve complex issues • Ability to present technically complex information clearly to senior management and other audiences • Self-starter who works independently with minimal supervision • Ability to recognize appropriate times to raise issues and provide status updates • Ability to adapt to change and maintain positive results • Maturity in approach and ability to handle stress and frustration effectively • Ability to facilitate meetings and provide direction to others
