LNG Project Engineer

Company introduction An energy infrastructure company is seeking an experienced Project Engineer – LNG & Gas Infrastructure to join the Engineering & Construction Pipeline Team in Juno Beach, FL. Role summary / purpose In this role, you will serve as the Owner's Technical Design Authority for capital expenditure projects involving Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for back up fuel and storage installations, cryogenic vaporization and liquefaction systems, and high-pressure natural gas transmission pipeline interconnects. This position focuses exclusively on front-end project development and capital design execution. You will be responsible for defining technical owner requirements, driving Pre-FEED, FEED and detailed engineering, directing third-party engineering contractors (EPC/A&E), and rigorously reviewing and approving contractor design deliverables. Key responsibilities • Establishes engineering basis of design (BOD), project design criteria, and equipment specifications for LNG liquefaction, cryogenic storage, BOG handling, vaporization facilities, and pipeline interconnects. • Reviews external engineering consultants work product and provides technical direction to Engineering consultants and EPC contractors through conceptual design, FEED, and detailed engineering; with a focus on optimization and technical quality. • Leads multi-discipline review and technical sign-off of contractor deliverables, including Heat & Material Balances (HMB), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, piping isometrics, single-line diagrams, civil/structural layouts, and instrument loop sheets. • Interfaces with Facilities Engineers to design high-pressure pipeline tie-ins, meter and regulation (M&R) stations, custody-transfer ultrasonic metering skids, gas chromatographs, pressure/flow control valves, and pipeline surge/thermal transient analyses. • Audits contractor sizing and procurement specifications for cold-box heat exchangers, cryogenic submerged pumps, BOG re-compressors, vaporization systems, vacuum-jacketed piping (VJP), and cryogenic storage tanks (API 620 App. Q / API 625). • Serves as the primary reviewer for contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), technical deviation requests, and design change notices (DCNs) to protect project scope and safety envelopes. Recommends approval or denial of requested change orders. • Enforces design adherence to federal and industry codes, specifically 49 CFR Part 192 (Transmission Pipelines), 49 CFR Part 193 (LNG Facilities), NFPA 59A, ASME B31.3/B31.8, and API 520/521 for cold relief and vent systems. • Coordinates and leads owner participation in Hazard Identification (HazID), Process Hazard Analyses (HAZOP/LOPA), constructability reviews, 3D model milestone reviews (30%/60%/90%), and vendor FAT acceptance protocols. • Acts as the primary technical liaison during federal and state regulatory audits, inspections, and enforcement proceedings involving PHMSA, FERC, or state utility commissions. • Provides engineering guidance on LNG infrastructure projects, ensuring management of change processes are carried out. • Oversees the development of operating, maintenance, and emergency response procedures to comply with evolving federal LNG safety mandates. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
