About this role

Role summary / purpose The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Powertrain Testing - Lab Operations function at the R&D Michigan site. Reporting to the Manager of Operations – Central Lab Ops, the person in this role will support the Powertrain Testing department's objective to ensure testing readiness. Key responsibilities • Test Execution: engine, powertrain, or vehicle chassis dynamometers and emission analyzers. • Compliance Validation: Verify test results against Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and certification procedures (such as FTP, HWFE, and US06). • Data Analysis: Analyze emission outputs, particulate matter (PM), and fuel economy data to optimize engine performance. • Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment or vehicle anomalies in controlled test cells and environmental chambers. • Support on site teams to ensure facilities are supporting current and new R&D activities, including Battery Development & Testing, Prototype Development, Powertrain Testing (Full Vehicle and Component Level), Purchasing, and IT & Security. • Provide Engineering Support for Powertrain Testing Operations. • Oversee and resolve problems associated with R&D testing equipment. • Support daily operations and problem solve those issues and develop countermeasures. Requirements – education & experience • Bachelor's degree in engineering. • Understanding of propulsion systems and CFR Emission Testing Requirements. Required skills • Proficiency with data acquisition tools (Panel 4, ETAS or Hioki) and modeling platforms. Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Professional Engineering License (PE). • Proficiency in reading electrical and mechanical prints.
