Role summary / purpose The Production Supervisor will manage small work teams in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring team safety; building teams and training/allocating manpower; driving and implementing continuous improvement solutions to improve product quality and reach throughput and cost targets; and ensuring team morale. Key responsibilities • Ensure the production plan is met, analyze issues with other roles, drive and implement continuous improvement activities and sustainability of solutions within the Zone, which may consist of multiple production lines and up to approximately 50 employees • Own all safety, quality, and throughput objectives within the assigned area • Ensure a safe workplace, lead the team to improve safety in the area, and enforce the use of mandated safety tools and procedures • Understand losses during the shift, use industrial systems tools and methodology to improve Zone performance • Demonstrate understanding of manufacturing process flow, bottlenecks, alarms, fault conditions, and escalation procedures to minimize downtime and maintain production targets • Proactively analyze quality KPIs related to the Zone, prioritize quality issues, and properly guide Team Leaders • Ensure the right allocation of people on the line, manage absenteeism, and train and build teams • Possess knowledge of the broader manufacturing organization and mobilize support groups and resources to lead and assist in problem-solving activities • Actively participate in and lead kaizen project activities centered on safety, cost, quality, and throughput improvements and waste reduction opportunities • Drive a sense of urgency within the operation and proactively respond to production interruptions to ensure output targets are achieved Requirements – education & experience • High school diploma or GED • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required • Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the plant from hourly represented employees to senior leadership • Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to production needs • Ability to spend extended periods on the production floor, including walking throughout the facility and climbing stairs as required Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Bachelor's degree in a technical field • 2 or more years of supervisory experience in a high-volume environment (recent graduates with no experience will also be considered) • Experience in welding (resistance spot welding) and robotic applications • Experience with robotics controls, automation systems, conveyors, or related manufacturing technologies • Previous experience working in a union environment • Experience in continu…
