Cloud Engineer

Role summary / purpose Associate Cloud Engineer providing level 1 support and troubleshooting for cloud platforms. This role solves problems with general supervision while developing skills and working with greater independence. Incumbents have knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures and handle routine tasks such as platform monitoring, backups, user issues, and onboarding. Key responsibilities • Develop software platforms and frameworks, including platform automation and defining the process and cadence of upgrades and changes • Maintain services, monitor system health, and continually look for improvements • Scale systems sustainably using continuous deployment and automation • Research and implement best design principles to improve reliability and velocity • Work in an agile environment and engage in practices such as XP and test-driven development • Work with technical staff to understand and resolve software problems • Resolve customer complaints and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements • Collaborate with other engineers, developers, designers, and product owners • Assist product teams with problem resolutions and routine maintenance tasks • Review health check alerts and escalate as necessary • Assist with updates and patching • Perform basic script writing to assist with platform automation Requirements – education & experience • Associate Degree or 1 year of equivalent work-related experience in cloud engineering or server administrator role Required skills • Scripting (Python preferred) • AWS and Terraform experience • Cloud platforms experience, including AWS networking, infrastructure management, automation, GoLang programming, and Cyber Security best practices Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Linux and Windows administration • Active Directory • Infrastructure as Code • Networking and Data Center Infrastructure • Platform as a Service • Microsoft Azure • BASH, GO, or PowerShell • Containers and Microservices • IAM roles and Sentinel policies • Terraform Enterprise and Vault • Apigee Hybrid • Terraform or AWS certifications Employment details – type, location, hours Remote work available; must be based in Charlotte.
