Role summary / purpose The Material Flow Engineer will support material execution and warehouse operations at an automotive assembly plant. This individual will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing material flow processes to improve efficiency, inventory management, and production support within a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities • Evaluate and improve material flow throughout production and warehouse operations. • Develop and implement material handling and storage solutions to support manufacturing requirements. • Analyze inventory movement, warehouse utilization, and logistics processes to identify improvement opportunities. • Create and maintain facility layouts, process maps, and material flow designs using AutoCAD. • Support sequence management and production material delivery activities. • Utilize Excel and SQL to analyze operational data, generate reports, and drive process improvements. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, supply chain, warehouse, and production operations to ensure effective material execution. • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and support operational excellence initiatives. Requirements – education & experience • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. • Experience in material flow, warehouse management, logistics, or manufacturing operations. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Required skills • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and SQL. Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Experience within the automotive industry. • Knowledge of sequencing operations and manufacturing material replenishment processes. • Experience supporting large-scale production or assembly plant operations. Employment details – type, location, hours This is a 2-year contract position. The role is fully on-site at an assembly plant in Fairfax, Kansas, with regular business hours. The position reports to the Materials Manager.
