About this role

Role summary / purpose The main function of a production supervisor is to supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers. As a production supervisor, you will lead safe, stable production and coach Team Leaders in a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities • Lead a paint production group to safely meet schedule while hitting quality, cost, and people targets through standardized work and GMS • Review the previous shift and run pre-shift meetings to align on safety, quality, and the build plan • Stay on the floor, enforcing safety standards, responding to quality alarms, coordinating maintenance for equipment issues, and monitoring scrap, downtime, and output against plan • Coach Team Leaders on standardized work, audits, problem solving, and people issues • Recommend measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and maintenance to detect production problems • Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff, and resolve personal grievances • Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records • Complete End-of-Shift reports and hand off critical issues and priorities to the next shift Requirements – education & experience • High school diploma or GED required • At least an associate degree or equivalent experience/training • 1–3 years of closely related technical/production experience • 10+ years experience required Required skills • Front-line leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (leading a small team, coaching, giving feedback, handling performance and attendance) • Strong safety mindset and ability to implement/enforce safety policies and standards (PPE, lockout, ergonomics, walking/working surfaces, incident response) • Working knowledge of GMS tools and systems: standardized work (STS/JES/SOS/TIS), BPD, layered audits, JIT, PQS/BIQ, problem solving, TIP/PM&C, basic SAP/indirect material flow • Verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills • Ability to work independently and manage one's time • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models • Ability to use common plant IT systems (Socrates, Outlook, SharePoint, Maximo, etc.) Nice-to-have / preferred skills • Associate's degree in business or related field • Bachelor's degree Employment details – type, location, hours • Preferred Work Schedule: Rotating schedule 1st and 2nd shift • 1st shift: 6AM-4:30PM • 2nd shift: 4PM-12:30 AM • Supervisors are expected to arrive 30 minutes before the shift and up to 30 minutes after the shift • Overtime: Yes, there are some weekends that may be scheduled to work
