About this role
Major Purpose: Works on a product team and supports product design by planning its work, coordinating with others, and writing and testing code to deliver functionality for the complete product or products it supports. This level designs complex/significant parts of a system/sub-system or works on a complete product of a broad scope and solves well-defined problems with little guidance. May act as a work lead, providing technical coaching to other engineers and support personnel; recognized as an expert user of critical technology; develops new software functionality for product development. Major Duties: • Develops, codes, configures, and tests programs and systems. • Evaluates and implements enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications. • Analyzes assignments and determines software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives. • Executes necessary documentation, as directed, or needed. • Collaborates with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs. • Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation. • Mentors junior software engineers on the team. • Serves as a Senior Developer on the Operations & Enablement team including handling on-call duties. • Develops automation for cloud accounts, infrastructure, FinOps and Enablement. • Troubleshoots production issues and communicates root cause of problems to others. • Works with teams globally to support organizational initiatives. Skills, Abilities, Knowledge: • Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements into technical solutions. • Excellence in verbal and written communication forms with emphasis on persuasive communication, tact and negotiation. • Ability to apply engineering principles and concepts for designs. • Ability to manage many competing priorities/requests in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to write code independently without one-on-one direction. • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. • Self-motivated and able to work independently. Education: • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. Work Experience: • 4–7 years of experience in programming/software development. • 4–7 years of experience with software development processes. • 4–7 years of experience with product design, test and/or analysis. • 4–7 years of experience participating in Agile Development. • 4+ years of experience with application development and scripting languages. • 4+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS). • 4+ years of experience with Python, Boto, Terraform, TypeScript. • 4+ years of experience with Github Actions CI/CD. • 4+ years of experience with infrastructure as code, automation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Required Qualifications: • Excellent communicator, written and verbal. • Ability to work in a global team environment. • AWS Certification (Developer/Architect/DevOps). • Experience with Agile development processes including Test Driven Development, Test Automation, and PYTest. • Able to participate in on-call rotation every month and handle off-hours support work. • Ability to travel domestically 10% of the time or less.
